Building an Even Better Team

With the start of summer, Better Car People seized the opportunity to get out in the fresh air and hold a company team building event. Employees gathered at Aw Shucks Farms located in Monroe, NC. Aw Shucks is an impressive space that offers hayrides and a pumpkin patch in the fall, as well as other attractions such as paddle boating and football toss, year-around.

Some of our quality assurance staff members or QA’s work remotely so it is always a treat when we can get together. Although our staff is very close and we pride ourselves in communicating effectively, there is always room for growth and improvement. There have also been a few new additions to the Better Car People family so the outing was a great way for new employees to meet the entire staff.

The team building outing had an aptly fit theme of Survivor. At the start of the event, the staff was broken up into teams or “tribes” of about six. We played games like word scrabble and 52 What. The staff also participated in a scavenger hunt and a tennis toss. The activities, during the event, were designed to engage the Better Car People employees so that they worked collectively and unified as a team. For example, while playing word scrabble, tribes had to unmix the words so that they spelled the correct word. All of the words described elements of a team: performance, responsibility, accountability, communication, leadership and commitment.

After running around and competing, everyone had worked up an appetite. Thankfully, our office manager set up a wonderful spread for dinner. Employees dined on fish, bbq, salad, fruit and of course corn on the cob.

The team building event was full of fun, laughter, and company growth. Your Better Car People team is now more connected and able to communicate even more effectively than before.
